We are a Maintained Nursery School in Waltham Cross and we offer educational provision for children aged between 2-4 years old. We offer a number of childcare options that are detailed on our Admissions page.
We believe that children learn through play and lots of it! Our provision reflects this ethos and we have three well resourced classrooms that have access to an outdoor area all year round!
Explorers Room ( 2-3 year olds)
Morning session: 8.40 am-11.40 am
Afternoon session: 12.30 pm-3.30 pm
Pioneers room (3-4 year olds)
Morning session 8.40 am- 11.35 am
Afternoon session: 12.30 pm-3.25 pm
30 hr Provision: Monday-Thursday 8.40 am-3.25 pm and Friday 8.40 am-12.30 pm
(Unfortunately we are not able to provide hot food for children who stay all day. Please provide a healthy lunchbox)
Animals We love animals at Greenfield and believe they offer an enriched learning experience for all children. We give our children the opportunity to handle them and be involved in their care.

Sensory Room We have a small sensory room located in Explorers that is accessible for any child that requires additional support for their sensory needs.
Woodwork Children in Explorers are introduced to skills to support them to fully access the woodwork area when they transition into Pioneers.
All children will have opportunity to use tools and develop skills to make their own models out of wood.
Outdoor Learning We are fortunate at Greenfield to have access to Hurst Drive woodland area where we are able to plan for outdoor learning experiences for our children led by our qualified Forest School Lead.
Children in both Explorers and Pioneers will access Outdoor learning sessions across the year.
Break away spacesAll rooms have an additional break away room that gives children opportunities to access a quiet space, when they need time away from the busy nursery environment.
For children that require additional support in some areas of learning, these spaces are used for 1:1 or group learning.
Terrific Talkers We use the HFL speech and language toolkit which identify speech and language ability. We are then able to identify and support children from their starting point so they are able to make progress. The toolkit provides a range of supporting activities that we build into children’s play.
Sensory Circuits Sensory circuits is a program of support for children who have been identified as requiring additional support with sensory integration. It involves a sequence of physical activities that are designed to alert, organise and calm the child. The sensory circuit aims to facilitate sensory processing to help children regulate and organise their senses in order to achieve the ‘just right’ or optimum level of alertness required for effective learning. The circuit are active, physical and fun activity that children enjoy doing.
Nurture Support Our qualified Nurture Lead provides support to children who may require additional help to boost their confidence, make new friends, develop social skills and increase their well-being and self worth. Working together, the Key Person our Nurture Lead sets a program of support using The Boxall Profile assessment tool. The support is delivered by the Key Person with the support of the Nurture Lead. The activities are playful and tailored for the child.
Family Support We work closely with the YMCA Family Centre service that provides support for families with children aged between 0-5 years old.
Our Family Centre is led by ONE YMCA. They provide a range of services for families and run play sessions for babies and children on our site.
